The current Wyvern Map Editor is version 1.2.5.
First, please read the System Requirements to make sure your system can run Wyvern.
NOTE: You must have Java 1.4.1 or higher on your computer to run the Map Editor. If you don't have Java, go to The Java Home Page, download the latest version, and install it.
Then select the Map Editor download most appropriate for your system:
If you're using Mac OS/X, try using the Pure Java/Cross Platform editor.
Download and launch the installer. If it works automatically, then you can run the editor (on Windows) from your Start Menu, and you can uninstall it from Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs).
When you choose an installation directory, make sure it doesn't have any spaces in the pathname. Don't put it in "\Program Files", for example.
If you're downloading a new version, you can install it over the old version. It won't hurt anything.
You can learn how to use the editor in the Wyvern Map Editor Manual.
If you can't launch the editor, there should be a file called:
c:\games\mapedit\startapp.log
It'll be in the folder or directory where you installed the map editor. Please send us this file.
If you can't launch the installer, double-check that you have Java 1.4.1 installed on your computer.
If you're using the Pure Java/Cross-Platform installer, here are more instructions.
